I just finished installing a Baldwin Coolant Filter Set-Up on my 1993 F250HD with the 7.3 N/A (non-Turbo) Engine and am getting ready to "fill" the Cooling System with Coolant and "purge" any trapped air, etc. I am planning to use an AirLift 550000 Vacuum Fill Tool to fill the Cooling System.....This will be my 1st time using this type of Tool and and have some "concerns" / Questions.:

1) As I understand, I will be pulling a 25psi "vacuum" on the System (i.e., which "collapses" the Hoses...and "other" things" in the System) and am wondering how the Baldwin Coolant Filter will handle this vacuum level? I can see the Filter being tested at the Factory for "burst Pressure," but didn't know if a 25psi (negative Pressure) will damage, or collapse the Coolant Filter's internal media, etc.?

2) My Lower Radiator Hose is a Gates # 21405 (with a Steel inner Coil Spring inside of it). Will this 25psi (negative Pressure) possibly damage, or collapse the "Spring" inside of the Hose? I realize that the Hose (after being "collapsed") will rebound back to it's original Shape, but the Spring (once collapsed) will stay collapsed - causing issues.....Any worries/comments here about the Spring?

3) Any overall concerns about a 1993 7.3 IDI Engine & Cooling System handling a 25psi negative pressure (Vacuum) for this type of Coolant Fill Procedure? Didn't know if this is a "no-no" for this year of 7.3 (i.e., for Gaskets, Seals, etc.), or if there are no worries??

Since I've never used a Vacuum Fill System before, I would really appreciate any Comments from other 7.3 IDI Owners that have experience with Vacuum Filling the Coolant System.

Thanks in advance.

Harold

Not sure how you plan on pulling a 25 psi vacuum when on earth, lol. But let us know how it goes… I’ve always had luck just filling it normally. Maybe I got trapped air but engine has been running for 20 years with no noticeable issues.

I just did a coolant flush on a 6.9 recently. Took about 6 gallons between engine and overflow. I got 5 in, drove it around the block to open the thermostat, then put the last gallon in.

The things people do to complicate life. The cooling system works just fine stock form. Heck I can run mine 1/2 empty in 120deg head with thread on towing 10k up hill and it only hits 220. Full of coolant in the winter I have a hard time hitting 160.
