I have a canister mounted on the passenger side tire well under the hood that looks like a coffee can with two vacuum hoses attached. I am looking for one and the dealer says it is no longer available. Well my can is collapsed and crushed and I need one. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks.

I would have to recommend a pick and pull for that part. You could probably make your own from a oil catch can from Summit Racing, but it would be more $.

It's not a coffee can, it's a tomato juice can, large size. It's actually a vacuum reservior, if the vacuum pump goes out, you still have a vacuum to the brake booster for one time braking. Just about any old truck or car has them on it, go to a junk yard, you'll find one.

LMC has the canister that your looking for in their Winter 2012 edition, page 44 listed as a EGR Canister for $59.95 P/N 42-5231....

45 bucks? Go to the junkyard and buy one off the later model trucks which is plastic. same location. Never rust again.

That solves the mystery of the "coffee cans" I kept seeing at PicknPull. Hmm, can't say my '92 E has/had such a thing, but it sounds like a great idea. Hmm, wonder if my mechanic's parts-Isuzu-NPR still has its big, industrial-strength one.... thx for the idea, guys! May take an extra second or two to build the vacuum back up at cold start, but that's fine by me.

I have no problem mounting stuff on the frame under the cab area; in fact, bypass filter for the E4OD is but the first item in that area. Coolant filter and engine bypass filter are coming soon to that location. Plenty of ground clearance to spare.
