turning up fuel?

i keep reading about turning up the fuel in your idi to improve power. i understand it will increase egt's and i would need a pyro to monitor that. other than egt's, are there other dangers and exactly what screw adjustments need to be made to do this?

over time if you turn it up intil it wont go no more you will wash the rings plum out of it after a while so it should be alright to turn it up some but not all the way

On the trip here, to Olka., from Baja Mexico, my IP fuel screw was turned up all the way and all I got was lotsa black smoke. I've since turned it back down and I never get ANY smoke, EVER!!! I don't remember how far down I took it, but now that the E4OD is hooking up like it's supposed to, I will try turning it back up some this Spring. As it is now, our '02 Mitusbushi Montero pulls our 21' aluminum boat better than the truck . Okiegringo
