turbo problem!!!!

i just installed the hypermax pulse turbo system. i got it all hooked up and took it for a spin. got home and jumped out to check for leaks ........... im leaking oil like crazy down by the flywheel area. i checked up where my new oil feed tube and drain tube are but noticed nothnig so far. anyone have the same problem, or have an idea on ow to fix it? any help is very appreciated. i have a 1992 f 350 7.3 with manual tranny. thanks for your help.

did you relocate your factory oil pressure gauge? If not climb in the engine compartment and take a peek downward at the top of the backside of the motor. if you need a visual on where to find the factory sender, I can take a pic later.

yes i pulled the oil pressure sending unit and installed the combination coupler so i could hook up the oil feed line ... from what i read in the directions that was what i was supposed to do. but i didnt punch any holes in the pan where the drain tube goes.... does that play a big part inoil everywhere? or did i blow a rear main seal?

Could be. But I didnt do it to my turbo the first time, and I had no oil leak (in the begining ).



Do what I did to diagnose it. Clean all the oil off of everything. Then stick some of those blue paper towel rag things in everywhere. Then go for a short drive. Then get out, and look at all the rags and see where all the oil is coming from.

Hey, if that is an original style valley pan it needs the holes punched to avoid drainback problems and oil leaks, make sure all your fittings are tight too. I sort of doubt its the turbo seals or the engine ones...one more quesion though, what are you doing about you crankcase ventilation, CDR relocation, road draft blowby tube or what? It needs to either be redirected to the crankcase to be burned or vented to the atmosphere or that positive pressure will cause a ton of leaks.

In the directions it told me to pull the cdr out, it said nothing about relocating it.... where should i put and how? i havent punched any holes in the valley pan... ill do that though. i really appreciate your input im new at the whole diesel thing.

Always have a look in the "Tech Articles" section for info. Here's a link to Mel's installation. Although he does not use the CDR it is mentioned in there about drilling a hole in the valve cover... If you have no crankcase ventilation then it is very possible you are forcing oil out the rear main, dipstick tube etc.

I was going to say valley pan holes but if You did not relocate the cdr or install a new rdt then that is most likely to be the cause of the leak.

can you tell me where im supposed to relocate the cdr and how? can you take pics of what you have ? im completely lost on what to do!!! the instructions i got werent very good!!

You are right they are not good, which is why I didn't bother reading them. I read Mel's article and then installed the turbo. It was about 8hs work nothing too bad. The cdr is long gone, I use an rdt and always like it so if You do the same just remember to never ventilate/route it in the engine compartment area but somewhere a bit farther away from it.

There is an adapter from banks You can install in front of the IP cover and put a hose from it to the frame rail behind the engine and that will route the gasses out and away. It also makes for very good winterizer if You guys use salt in the winter .

You'll find all this info in the article section which is managed by one of our dearest members Mel Agne (Agnem) and has much more info about this than You can read in a day. The part for the adapter should be in the articles, if not I'll check the adapter and give You the #.

That part # should be in towcats parts bin under Banks #s. I have my CDR still hooked up, my ATS air cleaner already had a hole which fit the CDR. You just need a place to mount the CDR on the air box or a hose/grommet type setup going to the airbox and either a hole in the valve cover or a vent from the gear cover to hook the hose up to.

Its where the oil fill tube is I belive.

ATS moves the CDR to ontop of the drivers side valve cover. With a little fab, you could probably do that if you wanted.
