Truck starting to fall in place

Today i got the valve cover gaskets changed, also the IP housing changed, and some paint, tommarow i will get the engine all back together, and hopefully in the truck by friday, then after i get it bolted to the trans and the engine mounts hooked back up im going to put my turbo on

7.3_IDI_GUY works to much he dont get much of a chance to help me much but i apreicieate his help when i get it,

this evening i got to work on it a couple hours finished the valve covers off, got the water pump back on, and the injectors pulled and all the copper washers out, if luck is on my side tomarrow evening it might be setting in the truck,

NOW QUESTION TIME-
1. Whats the proper way to change the fuel pump and it work after i change it?

2. Whats the easiest way to hook the clutch and pressure plate back up and alighn it, just set them on the trans input shaft and then bolt them to the engine later or how?

They make a clutch alignment tool that most parts stores sell. They are basically a plastic input shaft that matches your spline count and size. You loosely bolt your disc and pressure plate to the flywheel, insert the tool through the disc into the pilot bushing to center it, then tighten the PP bolts. I dont remember the exact cost, but I'm thinking around ten bucks.

By fuel pump do you mean the mechanical lift pump? That's a piece of cake with the engine out, just two bolts hold it to the block. When you put the new one in I suggest you slide it in at an angle from the top down, then when she touches the block push down on the pump itself for its flange to get parallel to the block then run the bolts in. This way you don't care about the position of the camshaft, as the end of the pump arm will slide under it regardless the cam lobe area it touches.

About the clutch tool, if you've ever done a clutch in your truck before, then you should have the tool, it usually comes with the new clutch and it's a good idea to not throw it away after the job is done.

In another thread someon suggested putting the pressure plate and clutch on the trans then dropping the engine in and an alighnment tool wasnt needed, so i been trying thing well the engine is in and the trans bolted, but the throw out bearing is got against the pressure plate i guess like you push the clutch in and icant figure it out

You can slide the pressure plate and clutch disc on the input shaft. Then put in the PP bolts and torque it down.We do this down at the farm when doing tractor clutches. I always have bolted the clutch and PP to the flywheel when doing a clutch in a car or truck though, it is just easier.

Its raining right now but i put the pressureplate and clutch on the input shaft and dropped the engine down in and bolted it to the trans and then bolted the pressure plate to the flywheel, the engine mounts were fighting me when the rain started so i covered it up and called it quits,

So now is there anything special i need to do when changing the clutch slave cylinder (i think thats what its called)
