Well you guys have showed me that I haven't seen it all. Even though I stopped thinking that YEARS ago.

Can I ask why “e4od is a lot harder becuase you’ll need a trans controller”. A trans cooler takes less than an hour to install and a 6.0 cooler almost bolts right in. I would think measuring and getting the drive shafts right would be harder than a trans cooler.

Good point.

I guess I've had so many vehicles with a busted speedo or odo that I've stopped caring. Would do an electric or gps retrofit it came to a "must have".
I just went with a gps speedo. Had to get mine working for insurance. It’s the best thing ever.

That is not a typo. He means a little computer to control the transmission. If you truck did not come with the E4od you need to either get a factory controller or there is at least one after market one, not sure if there are more. But it needs that to take the inputs from rpms, throttle input and such to shift into the correct gears when you want them.

I just did a zf5 swap on my 86', 6.9, 4x4 dually (replaced c6). Definitely don't use the 6.9 flywheel; you'll have to modify clutch fork as the 6.9 fw is @ 1/2" narrower than the zf5/7.3 fw. And you'll get a shitload of rollover tranny noise. I then pulled a dual mass flywheel setup from an 88' f250/7.3 and it worked fine; bolted up w/o any mod's. I had to move my tranny mount back @ 1.0" (just had to redrill 2 holes on each frame rail). My c6 transfer case bolted right up to zf5, so no problem with speedo cable. Original driveshaft fit w/o any modifications. I love the overdrive with my 4.10's, but wish I had a turbo when hauling heavy loads.
