You can forget the FSV and go with a 38 Gallon rear tank.
Run the fuel supply straight to the engine, and return straight
back to the tank.

Since you are going to deep 6 the Cruise Control and the factory
water separtor. Install one of these Racor 500FG Fuel/Water separators in that corner. I installed one there several years ago.
You can use a 2, 10 or 30 micron filter inside it.
I use a 2 micron filter, I figure you cannot have too clean of fuel.

I also have the Factory spin-on Filter.

There are a ton the chicom knockoffs on the market for $40+ or so. I would go with the real deal made in the U.S.A.

You are right, these engine will burn what ever you want to dump into the fuel tank. I burn just Diesel. My engine isn`t a garbage Disposal.

I also run a 130A Alternator, but a one wire one and my one V Belt seems to work ok.
I also recommend a Vacuum Gauge to keep an eye on it. Loose vacuum = no Brakes.

The Hydro Boost is a better way to go for better braking.
I lost my Power Steering last August. Suddenly it was not there.
Wonder how that would effect the Brakes? Probably same as no Vacuum I would guess.
I should add here, I still had steering, just lost the power assist part of it.

But I have lost my Vacuum more in the 10 years I have owned this thing. Usually the Boosters causing the problem with me.
I changed the Vac Pump one time, and the Lift Pump one time in the 169K mile I`ve driven it.

thank you for the advice goat!
im guessing the p/o of my truck opted for the cheap Racor filter. they looked surprisingly similar, except mine had a big ol Napa logo on it and it was entirely made of plastic.
I’d like to pick up another IDI from my buddy, and build this first truck into a fancy, high-end big money build, and a Slave Lake wannabe out of the second. (this 2nd truck is already about halfway there lol)

I’ll order up a vac gauge when i order the rest of my gauges from AutoMeter. I think i’ve got an extra spot or two on my pods already, and it can’t hurt to have an eye on it.

I am planning on CDD’s 38 gallon tank. I know amazon has options for $130 ish, but CDD’s gravity sump is too tempting, and it drops right in. I’d still like my front tank though, it’s hilarious when i switch tanks without my passengers noticing, and then act surprised when my tank goes from near E to F without stopping

I still have my front tank, it is to be used as a transfer tank to the rear tank.
The Sump is for when you want to go to a larger supply line? Like 3/8 to 1/2"?

according to the guy at CDD i called last week, the gravity sump kit replaces the original sending unit hoses in the tank, since the 38 gal tank is much deeper than stock. alternatively i could try and solder small tube on the original unit to reach the bottom; but i don’t have spares to risk that

Loose vacuum = no Brakes.
That happened three times with the 27ft RV. First time in 2019 not towing (alternator belt was lost), second time towing in 2022 (new pump stopped working after 700 miles) and third time in 2023 towing (vacuum pump fell apart).

You do have brakes, but you're stomping with both seat, raising yourself off of the seat. Thankfully all 3 times didn't result in a wreck.

Maybe I should play the lottery.
