Aluminum is easy to drill and tap. My B&M temperature Guage sender mounts in transmission line. In the plastic bag there are t fittings with an adapter that the sender screws into if you don’t have threads In the pan.

Hmm, well that is an option (in line tee), some say the hot side (to cooler) is better since it shows the actual max temperature.

C6s are easy enough. You could just do it yourself! I would, that's how you make memories.....

That's the type of stuff "memories" are made of! In 15yrs a conversation will start, " hey, you remember when we were rebuilding that C6 at Walmart and the police showed up and......."

Who cares about the trip where everything went "right". I want to hear about the "incidents".

What, hauling donkey butt over 800 miles in less than a week, across mountains and in heavy winds, with a near-dead transmission for the short term goal of getting a low priced new-old-stock GVOD (and doing so) before the trans totally dies isn't exciting enough for you?

I did replace the steering gearbox in an AutoZone parking lot last summer after it's seals all blew out, so it's not like I'm scared to get dirty in a parking lot, but a transmission is way beyond my skill and tool set.

No, I didn’t miss your point. You said you may wait to put the aluminum pan on. I suggested the 4x4 pan if yours doesn’t already have one, until you changed.

Yeah, who knows if I could make it there. Depends where I suppose. If I stuck to very back roads and 40mph in 2nd gear then I could probably do it. I'd get crap mpg and it would take a long time, but 3rd gear is what's going, so... it would probably survive.

Ya see, Nero is for creating the memories. Nothing like selfies of friends covered in burnt tranny fluid......it takes me back.....as far as tools and skill set, C6s only really require a screwdriver, 1/2" wrench, some channel locks, and a YouTube video. I built transmissions in highschool automotive shop almost as an employee more than a student. I made my teachers lots of $$$ and I got good grades without doing anything in the classroom.

I guess I'm going with the shop in Yakima. I'm less than 20 miles away at a casino that's seemingly letting me stay parked 8 nights (usually it's a 1 night limit) since I explained the situation and I'm as far out in the lot as one can get.

They took down my name, phone number, and the vehicle description and said they'd let whoever know. In any case, if there's an issue, they know how to contact me.

I'll go in and dine a few times to toss them some money so I'm not a complete squatter. ~$50 in dining to stay 8 nights is cheaper than one night in a motel.

When you throw the dice at the craps table, yell, "papa needs a new transmission!!!!!"

I'm really not a gambler but I have played slots a little. I know when to quit though, and I only go in with my ID and the cash I expect to lose (ie $10) just cause why tempted fate? One time I actually turned $10 into $30 or something like that but usually it's gone quick. It was a casino with free RV hookups and free fountain drinks/coffee so I figured the $10 was worth spending for 3 days of free electric and free sodas/coffee. I do have a little cash on hand, so maybe I'll toss $5-10 at the slots and see what luck I might have. Probably none but you just never know with RNGs.

I used to listen to a preacher that's in southern California named Leo Geovineti. Before he came to the Lord he was a jazz piano player in a Vegas casino. He used to say that, " the only person that really wins in a casino is the guy who owns the casino." The only gambling I do is wake up in the morning and deal with the general public.
