Hello Guys,

My '87 automatic has started to shift hard, producing a clunk that sounds like someone hitting the rear bumper with a 5 pound hammer. This hard shifting happens when I'm slowly accelerating, but not when I'm accelerating fast.
Another symptom (maybe unrelated) is a shift lag time when changing gears, especially on start-up. Sometimes, it takes 3-4 seconds before the tranny shifts into the selected gear. Thanks for any ideas/help.

Hmm not sure on a 1987 300D. I know that on the earlier 300D there is a vacuum modulator that controls the shifting along with a bowden Cable.

Here is some good info to look at on the trans:

W124 Shifting

W124 Clunks when shifting
