So, I recently resolved a problem with my running lights after I removed an ugly nest of wiring one of the POs had put in for trailer lights and brake controller. They had run their own wires and tapped into the factory harness and back fed power and... it's a mess.
I got the truck lights working but now I don't have any trailer lights or the brake controller hooked up anymore.
I find this infuriating because the truck has the factory towing package (it's suppose to anyways).
Are these pictures the factory plug for a brake controller (I think it is). The plug is located under the dash below the radio.

Not the best pictures but it's a tight spot. I suppose now I need to figure where it ends up in the rear of the truck. My initial look didn't find anything but my light was fading.
My goal is to restore everything to factory. The trailer light plug is currently hooked to nothing. I'm not sure why that is.

What colors are the wires coming out of it? Should be like blue, red, black and white I would think.

I think my dads 150 came with that pig tail back in 91 but I haven't seen one for sale anywhere like etrailer. Let me know if you find them.

Earliest one I see listed is 92. I bet that it's different than the earlier ones. Maybe not. :dunno

On Edit: Looks like you have an OBS truck in your avatar pic so you should be good to go with that I would guess.

There is going to be a relay somewhere under the hood too for the factory trailer brake wiring. I got the plug and everything hooked up in my 93 when I still had it but there was no power to the system. I had read that there was a relay but never got around to locating it.

That's definitely the brake controller wiring. I have my P3 hooked up there with the factory pigtail. Ford might be able to get you the pigtail still.

If memory serves I had to install a couple fuses and the trailer plug in the rear works great. I have the factory 7pin semi truck style as well as the 7pin RV style plugs that plug on without cutting any wires.

I just can't find it anywhere in the rear end. Currently my trailer hook up is not attached to anything. I can't find where it would have been attached

In the later years, the entire tail harness is different. You would swap it out for a tow package harness that has an extra plug. I bought a connector for my 01 that was a T that plugged in to the tail harness and it had everything in it. My 91 had a T that plugged into the tail light harness that only did the lights (no brakes etc).
