LuLuBelle can pull a fully loaded 24" gooseneck livestock trailer 65-70 mph all day long in 5 th gear;with a 4.10 diff. Out here in the flat deserts of west Texas, its not much of a chore for the old girl. I try to keep it at 65 but this oilfield traffic is horrendous. 18 wheelers going past you at 80 mpn+, is enough to discourage you from driving anywhere.

West Texas is, uh… different. Especially the whole passing thing, of people effectively driving on the shoulder or even into the ditch to let the faster vehicle behind them pass… yeah that’s a whole different scenario if you ask me.

I guess that’s not all of West Texas, and that’s been awhile ago. But I know it at least used to be a thing.

I feel kinda dumb asking this. I have an '88 f250 centurion dually with a 7.3 5speed and gear vendors. It'll be hauling a 35 ft 5th wheel. Dont know the weight of trailer yet. Gvwr on trailer is 13,6xx. I wont run it in double overdrive while towing. What is a typical hauling speed? I was figuring 65-70. Ill be taking it south where the speed limit is 80 for about 3 hrs of the drive.
Well only tow in 3rd OD off. OD dos not have the pressure to cool while towing. And the max legal limit back is 1988 for that truck was 10k or less. So are you even in weight? I’d wouldn’t tow that much with that truck but if I did 55or less
