Towing Ft. Mead, MD - MA

Got a fellow Military vehicle owner on steelsoldiers who just bought a M109A4 truck. (its a deuce of a half with a box van on the back. ) They weigh approx 16,500lbs depending on the tire sizes on them and what all is in the back.
If anyone would be interested in making some money and helping. Its around 400 miles each way from Ft. Mead, MD to Southboro, MA. You would need a good size gooseneck (18' atleast if you have one.)

It is not in good enough condition to drive that far and he hasnt been able to get the SF97 from the government to allow him to get insurance on it so it has him concerned on driving it. (granted I wouldnt want to drive a truck that has been sitting for that long)

that looks and smells like a job for a lowboy hauler. if you want broader appeal, have you buddy check the height accurately on how tall that monster is. the truck height + trailer deck height cannot exceed 13ft without requiring overheight permits.

They are 11' from ground to the top of the box.

Yup, that ridged box bed job isn't like the regular stake bed soft top jobs where you can break down the exhaust stack and have them be only as high as the top of the cab. About the Only way you could haul that thing on a gooseneck is if it were REAL long and you were to take the box off and load it on behind the truck, and you'd need some serious equipment to pull that off. it would be hard to find a gooseneck stout enough for that thing where the deck stayed under 2'6" all the way ( that's standard trailer height at 13'6" , unless something has changed that used to be the max, at least for interstates, secondary roads have their own rules state by state ). It would end up being cheaper and easier in the long run to just bite the bullet and call in a lowboy.

My 25' GN is 2'3" exactly ground to the bed.(i can raise my trailer up and down though) I mean yeah its 11ft it would be close. my GN trailer is very heavy duty and I tow my 20k m-61 on it around and its 10' 6" to the top of the windshield (the highest point) and I still have plenty of room to clear on bridges. The limit is 13'6" mostly. Vehicle is equipped with CTIS so you could lose a few inches if needed. If i was on that side of the country I would try to help but its a long drive from here.
