jeeps and broncos are nice, but they don't even remotely compare to a scout.
scout 2s have a full boxed frame, power steering, power brakes, a short turning radius, disc front, and i'm pretty sure 11" drums rear, Dana 44's front and rear, dana 20 tcase , t-19 transmissions, 727 autos (not a fan of autos by any means but the 727 in my '78 took about 3 mudbaths, after numerous fluid and filter changes it still worked),they use a MEDIUM DUTY TRUCK engine, also available were AMC I-6's IH 4 cyls, and a 3.3L diesel from 76-79 were n/a, in '80 were turbo charged, they wernt a powerful engine but got 25mpg+ and were fairly reliable, the 304 and 345 were available from scouts to school buses! they're easily a 350K mile engine, IH had a 100,000 mile warrenty FROM THE FACTORY in the 70's, i'm pretty sure the big 3 were much less if any. the leaf springs actually allow a scout to flex quit well and is easy and cheap to fix, long arm radius kits for broncos are big $$$. don't get me wrong i love old broncos, i was looking for one for a long time, then i realized they're 9 fortures to build and...oh yea not a scout! haha

scouts were built with medium truck longevity and strength in mind,IH over engineered almost everything.
.....rant over *sigh*
