yep got some junk extra wheels i had, some junk tires that held air and set her down on all fours!!!! the drivetrains in just need the driveshafts, wiring and interior.....then if i ever turbo it or anything.

thanks guys! just the gauge "bezel" area is going to be fiberglass and around the radio. the rest is steel except the dashpad whis is not in the pic.

this weekend? oh man i wish! if i had driveshafts i COULD move it under it's own power! i'm curious if it'll spin all 4 of them little tires......muahahaha

Oh yea keep forgetting to ask, what's a Terra?
My mom doesn't like Scouts because she had a drunk driver in one plow into her and her brand new 78 CJ7 Golden Eagle. Both vehicles were pretty much based on the same principal and both have about the same structural integrity. Not exactly sure why it happened the way it did but the Scout lost big time. There was one less drunk driver to worry about, she still has neck problems and her jeep took almost 3 months to get back from the body shop. I'm amazed they fixed it at all. I wanted a Scout when I was 16 but my mom told me no way. lol
Anyway, I just never heard of a Terra.

the terra is a 118" wheelbase short top pickup. the traveler is a 118" wb fulltop. a regular scout 2 is only 100" wb. well..mines 119" now with the perch center relocated. your missin out id tell ma that the past is the past and you want the best 4x4 ever built..... and i hope itll be done come spring!

I like what you've done with the dash!! BTW, for those of you who haven't seen a Scout dash, take a look at the pic I attached to see what a stock Scout dash looks like....that's from the Scout I used to own. I still miss that rustbucket I WILL own another one someday!!

BTW, your speedo's not oriented quite right can't wait to see the finished product!!

BTW, Sean, next time your mom talks about that, you can tell her about the accident I got into with my Scout the day I bought it. I made a right turn into a gas station and a lady behind me wasn't watching and ran into my right rear wheel. One of the lugnuts somehow snagged a part of her front bumper and ripped the bumper off, totalling her early '80's Ford station wagon. The only damage to my Scout was some scratches on the lugnuts! Unfortunately, I had crossed a solid white line before turning into the parking lot, so I got the blame for the accident...and I was only 18 at the time, so you can imagine what that did to my insurance premiums Fortunately, no one was injured...

while scouts are good stout trucks and yours will be one fine example of them

i dont feel they are the best 4x4 ever built.

you want the best it would be an arguement between the willys MB thru CJ2A (41-49) or the 76-77 Ford bronco.

the willys was a lightweight 4 wheelin machine that was way overworked during WW2 and took the abuse like a champ.

the 76-77 bronco....why not the earlier ones you say from 66-75? the 76-77 were the best of the best. a full box frame on solid axles... ford 9" rear with a D44 front (best half ton combo ever produced) available with power steering...power brakes with front discs and 11" rear drums (huge for the size vehicle) avail with a C4 auto trans. removable steel top and in a bit smaller package then the scout. ALL models came with a 302 V8 which is one of the best motors for longevity and durability (except for the 300 inline 6) to come out of FMC

The ford radius arm suspension is the longest lasting best handling solid axle suspension out there. so much in fact that ford brought it back in the newer superduty's. and with a small amount of work it you can get fantastic flex out of them.

they were not built for medium duty. they were aimed at a light truck market. the 304/345 is just a small block V8 nothing special. there were decent engines no doubt but nothing above or below a SBF.

the 3.3L diesel in the scouts was a nissan diesel. sleeve engine too that can easily be rebuilt. thats probably the only place where the scout would have a bronco beat.

turning radius isnt bad for a big vehicle. you cant really compare a scout 2 to an early bronco. more like a late model 78-79 bronco or a blazer. you can argue the scout 80 was more of a comparison to the bronco due to its smaller size. but they were spartan compared to the bronco's which says alot lol.

the scout rides like a dump truck compared to a bronco and factory to factory a bronco will outflex a scout pretty easy.

the bronco's actually had a better version of the dana 20 tcase too. lower gears from the factory then the scout or jeep versions.

the 3spd that came with the broncos isnt exactally stellar but it gets the job done.



either way...your rig is comming along well and will be a nice truck when its done. i always liked the terra pickups. what fer wheels and tires you gunna run?
