T19 Extension Housing Oil Seal

Does anyone know which way the oil seal needs to face? My housing had a couple broken ears so I pulled it off to find there wasn't an oil seal for the Trans..between that and 2 broken ears, my extreme Trans leak is explained..I have searched all over and can't find anything

The spring that wraps around the seal needs to be toward the oil or grease. The metal part goes out towards the dirt.
