Most of the time when i turn on my headlights they wont come on until i bang the dash with my fist. Then they will come on and stay on. Its getting worse because now its taking like 2 or 3 hits. Anyone had this problem before?

if the switch is going, the connector is probably toasted also, you can get a new pigtail from Ford. If you have clearance lights, then check the brown leads, if they are the ones that have over heated, then the running light relay mod will help protect the new switch.

x2 Change the switch, pigtail and do the relay mod and the problem should be solved. Same thing as what you describe happened in my Ford van. It was before I found helpful websites like this and ended up catching on fire. Definitely need to get it fixed.

I remember my dad banging away on the dash of our '89 Bronco to get the oil pressure gauge to work... He got to where he would tap out some pretty good tunes on that dashboard. Eventually the volt gauge started crapping out, and finally all the gauges were toast.

We were driving back from a family vacation in Wyoming when he was going on a pretty good drum riff when my mom finally took all the dash slapping she could take... "BRIAN, damn it, if you hit that mother f'ing dash one more time, I swear to god I will end you!"

From that point on, dad only smacked the dash if mom wasn't in the car with us! :D
