Steering Joint loose

All the trucks I looked at for parts has the slip joint but. I found a few differant types. Mine has the very small flat spring thats held in place by a plastic sleeve down near the steering rag joint. Others have this slip joint up near the firewall end of the shaft. My test run today was great. I have no play in the wheel. Any movement moves the truck left or right. Just the way I like it.... The old spring was broken in 3 pieces but its all internal so you can't see this. What I did "see" was this slip joint has plenty of slop between the two differant pieces of the steering. So fixing it has really been something done for good reasons..... Everybody likes a tight....... Steering...

Yep, you got one, I think every truck since the late '70s has one.

Gary, did you actually buy a new spring for it? I just shimmed mine using small sheets of steel...

Yes.. I paid the two dollar entry fee at the pick a part and pocketed two sets of this spring and plastic sleeve. The flat spring isn't really flat but kinda has a arch to it. Really tuff installing it under the plastic sleeve. Once that done it realy easy slideing the joint together. The top bolt on the shaft is where I removed my steering section from. Its a 13mm bolt head and the lwer bolt is metric also. I didn't remove the lower bolt but it could make this repair easier.
