Steering ISSUE fix - Drag link roll causing dead spot

Well I finally got these bushings made. I turned out 21 in all, one for member @X-NRCan_IDI and twenty to share with the Oilburner community.

I really can't afford to ship these to individual members in the States; there was some discussion earlier in this thread of having someone State-site handle that @IDIoit.

@riotwarrior - I made up a special one for you (see pic), plus a few more oversized ones. If you are still down with it, I can ship you twenty pieces, use what you need and send a care package to IDIoit. Are you in?

I had the pleasure of meeting X-NRCan_IDI yesterday. We installed the part on his truck, fit first try. I hope for some feedback from X here on the improved drive-ability!

These parts are made from 1.625 OD Delrin rod, a little heavier than my first one.

Yep, big thanks to mblaney for his contribution and help with installing the part! It was a pig to get the joint loose.

Took her out for a rip and what a difference! I used to have probably a good two inches of dead spot cruising in a straight line and had a bit of that buttpuckering shift in making turns. It was definitely something I got used to after a while but now with the new hard boot (or whatever the more correct term is) it feels like there is almost no play in the wheel any more in straight lines. And no more pucker factor either!

Again, big thanks to mblaney for his hospitality and help. In my mind, that is what the Brotherhood of Oil Burners is all about! I highly recommend this upgrade.

I know it's a bit late to help on your install but, I picked up one of these when I was working on my Jetta:

I also used it when replacing all the tie-rods on the 2000 Crown Vic a few weeks ago. Tighten it with a 3/4 wrench or socket, and after a few turns, you get a nice bang like a gunshot and the tie-rod or similar joint is apart, with no damage to the joint or boot!!!!!!! Much better than a pickle fork.......

that tool posted by snicklas looks like the cats-ass for doing this. One thing I could have done to help is to back up the tie rod with a heavy chunk of steel... less bounce when trying to drive it off. Note: to remove the joint I use a big ass brass punch... won't damage threads.
