Starter Question.

Is the starter drive replaceable on these starters? I think I have a Mitsu, but I am not sure. Does it matter?
How much do the drives cost?

Starter spins well, but the drive slips. The slipping seems to be happening more frequently; I am afraid that one day it just won't be able to spin the IDI over at all.

Yes, I've seen them on ebay pretty cheep. Search 7.3 Diesel starter and check out the Ebay stores, I looked at the drive and brushplates and it was alot less than a "NEW" starter.

Depending on your budget Summit Racing has a brand new high torque starter for the IDI's. Only $208. Only a little more than I paid for a starter at NAPA. Wish I had know about it at the time. Has 30% more torque than stock. Don't know how much the parts on E-Bay are going for.
