IF someone has a Banks Sidewinder WG turbo sitting around can you take pictures or post what all the casting numbers on the exhaust housing are, especially if there's an AR number somewhere. I have a strong suspicion the problem with my turbo is that's it's got the wrong housing and I have it off now so I can check it against a know good one if I can find one.

Thanks!

I've not seen A/R numbers on the turbine housing. Both of mine are installed now, but looking at my photos of the turbo, I don't see A/R on the casting.

Give me a day or two...I will go look at mine. It is in the shop at my in-laws house right now. What exactly are you looking for, because I also don't remember any numbers on the housings...just the part #s on the tag.

The one I tried to rebuild for a member had no numbers on the castings to tell the ar, Its banks super secret ********. and for everyones info the rebuild kit you need for the mitsubishi pos is a tdo7 superback , not a 6 like is thought. I have zero desire to do another of the wastegate banks, my goal is to find a garrett or BW to fit in there.

Thanks for the info Russ. I do intend to rebuild this turbo of mine, and this is good information to have.

I am interested in a turbo upgrade as well. Seems like this Mitsubishi turbo might be a weak link, or at least a better option might be put there.

Interesting that you say TD07 Russ, mine is a TE06H - says it right on the label plate that's usually covered by the Banks plate.

However, the one I have is an oddball that may or may not actually be right. It's an ebay special that I got incomplete and never used. It looks like a sidewinder and has the "sidewinder turbo' cast into the compressore housing, but was missing the wastegate actuator and heat shield when I got it. After some tinkering I come to find out that the wastegate flapper was about 2 mm smaller in diameter that the wastegate port. I wound up cutting a access port in the housing and making a press fit seat insert which has worked well. At the time I thought it was a case of someone sticking the wrong flapper in, but given the low boost I get out of it I'm thinking maybe it's the wrong exhaust housing. My suspicion is that it was a factory reject due to the wg screw up which someone 'recovered' out of the scrap bin and recycled.

The teo6h is the Mitsubishi turbo banks uses. What Russ is saying is the rebuild kit for it is actually the t07.

Nothing from a 6 will fit, at least in the three I tried to do. so something is rotten in denmark with these turbos and thats why I dont want anything to do with them, How do you warranty a repair on something that has no valid part numbers???
