That's my guess too but I can't imagine why unless the cab was toast and swapping to a flat bed maybe?

We bought that truck a year ago, with no bed, the cab is mint! It's original a reg cab long bed truck.
We had a parts truck, was a short bed, box was good, so we slapped it on there.
We'll built a custom made chrome diamond plate tool box in the gap.

if they were dodge wheels wont the hubs be to small for a ford fords have the largest hubs then dodge then chevy in that order

If the holes for the hubs are too small, it is a simple process to bore out the holes. Even with the tires still attached. Just don't weld on them.
