SCA test strips wtw

The shop has a solid reputation. I talked with them several times, and at length. The shop as far as I've researched, has top notch reviews, and they do a lot of performance work on larger rigs. Which like you, shocked me when they were talking about the test strips, BUT as Larson pointed out, 75 degrees, and 'low humidity' is hard to come by, and keep in place; at least the many places I've lived.

Laserjock came up with a workable situation for myself, I can swallow buying a 5 pack for the right price, over getting inaccurate results from a larger quantity of older strips.

SCA's are definitely necessary for these engines, but inaccurate measuring tools could end up making things worse.

No I was say just keep them in your home. My thermostat never goes above 75f or they are asked to leave the place lol. With that being said I can't speak for everyone by any means as far as what temp you run your house at. (just sayin)

I get them at one of the truck centers (Cummins, Western star, IH, etc..) around here, just go up to the counter at any one of them and ask for dca-4 test strips

yeah,it's the way to go.no more hassles with finding test strips,dipping them and hoping they read right,having them go expired on you before you can use them,buying and hoping you don't overdose the system on liquid sca's or forget to test the system when you should of etc.
no more coolant flushes every 60k to boot.

Brad,you understand the type of coolant filter your using simply dumps the SCA's into the coolant and then they are gone from the filter correct? it's just a simple way for you to add sca's by replacing filters when required,according to the test strips,while also filtering out junk in the system.
you need to replenish the system regularly with liquid or new filters.
so if you flush the system right now and keep the old filter on there,you would just be using an old,now blank filter free of any sca's.

if you want to run a more advanced filtering/sca system,here is what i do;
pre charged fleetcharge coolant.
penray need release filter - simply swap it out every 18 months.part# NF2088 screws onto the napa #4019 filter head.

now you have a filter that only releases sca's from the filter when it's needed.it does the job for you.
no more need for test strips, or flushes (according to fleetcharge's FAQ section.)

That is a terrific filter and great way to nix the need for strips, however there are more than one of these IDI's locally running about and to be honest I doubt every one is going to add a filter.

As one of if not thee goto guy locally for info and such on the rigs I field a ton of questions and most want to ensure their coolant is ip to ***** however when I have sjown and suggested a filter they nod agree and say well....I dont k ow...why do I need that my ____ new truck doesnt even have on

So back to strips.....I need strips....will see what can find.
