got my recall..no time either till after Holiday
I don't know if has been addressed on here or not but I am a Ford Tech and I have seen these switches a lot. Mostly not leaking, a couple leaking and I thought it was kinda a BS recall until last week. I pulled in a Windstar and popped the hood to see the switch was smoking. If it was me and I had a vehicle with this recall and I didn't have time to get it fixed, atleast unplug the switch. Its a rectangular connector that plugs into a red switch either on the master cylinder or under the drives foot area on the inside of the framerail. Just an FYI.
Buddy's father's 95 and 99 F250 PS both had the recall and received a similar harness. The sensor in question was on the master cylinder. On my 99 E350 PS, it also received the same harness and senor was on the master.
Got the letter in the mail a few weeks back, finally got it taken care of yesterday.
/\ Thats it if its not leaking /\
didn't think this was a big deal, thought it was just another BS thing like the CPS. guess I better get mine in to fix it!!!! maybe then my cruise will work... and my horn [it would be nice not to hook a temporary horn up for inspection every year!]
I am sitting at the dealer now.. The tech took my truck to his bay over an hour ago. Hmmmmm
Be afraid! Be very afraid! I watched the tech do it at my Ford dealer. They take a pre-made assembly that has a plug at each end, unplug the original cable from the original location, and insert this assembly between the two. Literally a 2 minute job tops!
He must have gone on a beer break.
I have a crappy dealer to. The guy says on the phone be there at 1 pm and we will do it right after lunch, only takes a minute. I show up on time and it takes 20 minutes for them to drive the truck into the bay. Sits there for another 20 minutes before they touch it. Another 20 minutes later it comes out. One hour shot. It was the first time-- maybe last time-- that I take my truck to the dealer.
He was actually checking my truck out.... FREE OF CHARGE!!!
While he had it back there, it got the recall and basically a safety inspection.
On the service ticket, it says that they checked brakes all the way around, checked voltage and specific gravity of the batteries and gave the tires a once-over... I wasn't expecting all that!
Now you owe him a beer.
I would gladly buy him one!
I wouldn't get to thinking that he was being too charitable... sounds like they're doing the pep boys trick... give you a *free* safety inspection, then if they find anything wrong, tell you that they can't let you drive the vehicle out of the place with a known safety issue because that makes them liable for whatever accidents might come about after you leave. Only way the thing can be removed is to be towed out, or repaired first before you can drive it out. A growing number of big places are pulling that stunt and it's perfectly legal. Be thankful your truck passed.
I didn't get a recall letter so I went to the dealer yesterday after all the talk about this deal and they checked the VIN before doing the repair as there are a couple of different fixes the Service Manager said.My truck just took the harness and was done in two minutes, one which was walking to the truck!
