Crap....why am I working so hard to make a vented filler neck when for 29 bucks I can get one cap inclusive...and dead **** at that...

diesel/gas/water same diff, tank needs to breathe- right. i see wat ur sayin ur vent is on the tank.
im just trying to avoid buying a 100$ truck filler neck! plus the angle of these will work well for me.
except this filler neck is pointless if the cap doesnt vent as well. sure you will vent when filling, but you will draw a vacuum on the tank when using if the cap seals tight.

the problem with this, if that vented neck you posted is the only vent, you can experience a slow fill condition, because youre rushing the fuel into the tank.
while doing so, you block the vent with the fuel going in.
maybe this is why my trucks have that extra tube in the filler neck, so that this wont happen.
a vent is a vent, i think with a sealed cap, and the vent being as big as it is, you will not create a vacuum

Yeah but I personally don't think that'll be an issue with filling. The vent tube on the fitting you posted ties back in to the fill fitting high enough to where the end of the filling station nozzle will be below it. So then the air will escape around the metal part of the fuel nozzle. Now granted you may have to make an additional vent/hole in the very top of your fuel tank so as to vent the air properly. And yes, the lift pump sucking the tank flat would probably be a valid concern. If I'm not mistaken, OEM caps will vent air into the tank but not out of it?? I stand to be corrected on that one..............

Our tanks have a wee little vent in the top a small white fitting with a small hose...think small vacuum line size that is designed to provide atmospheric venting!
The idea with fuel filler vent is to allow air to escape whilst filling. The cap doesn't have much to do with venting.
Now on your tank Greg it could be different I'm not sure due to unfamiliarity of your setup compared to us older trucks guys...

ok i think i found what i need. The excursion tank does also have a small secondary vent port beside the main 3/4" filler vent. I forgot about that. But my concern is also road crap getting into there. I think I recall teh Diff vents have this nice little cap that goes inside the hose, its a little mushroom fitting that allows the hose to suck in air but keeps out debris. I kind of want a big version of those lik eold cement truck shave for the air cleaner too hehe.

even with this being 25, and ht efiller being 45 with shipping, its still less than the 100 bucsk for the cab chassis filler neck and cap! looks pretty ******* too. the 30 degrees is super for my application, only bad part is...the vent ends up being at the bottom..

On a side note, I did a custom filler mod by getting some exhaust tubing and cutting and welding my stock filler neck to suite my needs....since you are getting some Anti spatter spray why not for the few feet of exhaust tubing or cheap steel tubing make yer own? You could even have it bent at an exhaust shop.
Just sayin...

How about this for your small vent opening. I'm thinking stock rollover valve removal and relocation with this to solve the venting problem.
my buddy gave me this idea, dont know why i didnt think od it before, Im jsut going to use an exhaust reducer on stock filler neck! get a 1.75 to 1.5" adapter, open up the 1.75 side a little bit as the stock neck is 1.8x, weld it, stick the 1.5" flex hose on the end..done?

make sure you test the welds when done.
yeah, if it leaks, weld it more lol.
forgot to post a pic of my 90% done down pipe. tomorrow morning goign to finish off the 90 bend with a 3" flange, finish grinding the welds and heat wrap it. fit is nice.
it goes, 3" downpipe to 3" v band, 3" v band to 4" adapter, 8" straight, 4" flex, then 15' of 4" straight to 90 deg dump by rear tire.

noo friggin home depot didnt have it in stock, online order to store only. I did order it but will take a bit to get in. i will use it im sure.
