Nope, you can split in between each gear, not split it and go through them all again. 1st, 1st over, 2nd, 2nd over, 3rd, 3rd over, 4th, and 4th over. Not 1, 2, 3, 4, 1st over, n2nd over, 3rd over, 4th over.
