Quick Shower-head Question

(No, this is not about personal cleansing.)

If I can repeatedly run my truck till the fuel gauge (which may or may not be accurate) is well below the 1/4 tank mark, with nary an engine hiccup noted, is it safe to assume that the in-tank fuel pick-up device (shower-head) is intact and functioning as intended?
