putting a turbo on a idi

First off im lurking around to see which turbo kit i wanna go with rather banks or ats. I here ats have a nice whistle to them at ideal so that is the route im thinking abou taking i like the sound more then anything. That beings said i was talking to a guy that told me you will have to adjust the timing when u go with a turbo because it will cause head gaskets issues dont really see where that would be true but hey this is my first idi and hes owned a few so is this statement true?

I dont know anything about turboing an idi but i do know you're in the powerstroke section and not the idi section, try reposting here.
