Damit, I just changed the oil on my 7.3 and used the stock idi filter..

I guess there's always next time to do this.

I use the powerstroke filter on the 6.9 in the scout. It fits with no troubles and threads on fine. It also fit on my '92 f250 I had. I figure it holds more oil and more oil means better oiling and cooling!

i tried to put a psd fl1995 filter on my truck and it would only turn a few times then it would turn anymore. the stock filter has different threads then the psd
I think bigblue's correct about it trying to cross-thread. I've been running PSD filters ever since the first oil change on my old E-350 back in 2000 and have NEVER had a problem with it threading in place. As others have said, I figure an extra quart of oil and possibly the oil running slightly cooler as a result can't be a bad thing ;Sweet

Did you get it at wallmart? All the poorly machined filters end up there.

Also, you can gain an extra quart of oil capacity, if you put an IDI STICKER over the words PSD. Not so much if you use a sharpie to just block it out.
