Project GET THAT DANG INJECTOR OUT OF THE HEAD

Welp as said...that's what I tackled today....Got a fuel leak on the number 7 cylinder and decided I was gonna mess with it...figured the o-rings for the return line hat were shot and maybe the injector was a little loose letting fuel slip by the copper washer...WRONG! Completely the opposite. No problem removing the return line setup but the injector however, was another story. Once I finally got the injector out, it was not complete. the sleeve that slides over the pintle and threads onto the injector body remained in the cylinder head. Used a magnet and got all the little pieces out with the exception of that sleeve. Took a break from it as I was getting a little irritated then jumped back on it about 2 hours ago.....and yes, I did JUST NOW get done with it. Had to do some creative engineering for a "sleeve removal tool" but finally got it out...and what a pain it was.... Once the mosquitoes die down a bit I'll go back outside and install the new injector, assuming it's not raining. Just had to vent, thanks for listening.

That sucks! I felt the same way when mine came apart in #1. Same story.. lots of pieces and carbon buildup and no nozzle I welded a slide hammer on the top of the injector and threaded it back in--all it took was two hard slams and it popped right out. The whole time I was stressed out and b$%^$ing up a storm afterwords I felt like apologizing to the neighbors!

You could take the injector grind the threads off of the part that threads to the head, and then thred it back together and it will break it loose and you can get it out

That is EXACTLY want I did! And still what a pain..I feel better knowing I'm not the only one that's had to fight this issue.

Not sure what you mean......AFAIK, these are the factory injectors...BB codes at that!

not sure what you mean either?all I'm saying is the 3' breaker bar probably didn't help the injector sitUATION.

yea, it didn't...so i had to use a 4 footer! Nah JK...a breaker bar on one side and another one on the other.

That's exactly the way I did it on the one which came apart in my engine. The bottom part came out very easily using this method. It was recommended to me by our local guru, Towcat.
