I have a donor OM606.912 from a 1996 E300 Diesel and would like to know the viability of installing it into any 1991-1998 S-Class with a bad motor.
Can I presume that a donor S600 would be the best selection since it was a 6.0 liter V12 and my E300 Diesel is a 3.0 liter straight six diesel (both motors would be approximately the same length front to back)?
I can only assume that I'd have to add a glowplug light and some other systems might not function. The S600 I have in mind has recently undergone an air suspension to coil springs swap. I can already assume that the acceleration will by abysmal but if it all works, getting some 28 mpg + and having all the luxury amenities in the flagship Mercedes-Benz of 1996 might not be all that bad.
If anyone knows of someone having done this type of swap, I'd like to learn more....
