starting to happen more and more in the last year now its every time i back up.....

everything in the front end is new besides the sway bar links and pass ball joints.... but the ball joints are tight and the links look ok(tho i have replacement bushings just lazy to change)..
ive changed both pivot point bushings (2wd dually)
both drivers ball joints been replaced
and all the tie rods before i bought the truck years ago but its all moog
both radius rod bushings have been replaced... however i did find the brackets seemed like the bolts needed a snugging and i haven't drove it since ive done that

all parts but orig pass ball joints are greaseable and i grease every oil change.. ive checked several times for loose parts thinking well its getting louder maybe ill find it but nothing...

thanks for any ideas

I think there is a crossmember issue up front that can cause a clunk noise up front. Might start searching there.

Could be the radius arm brackets. You may want to check out the bolts that were used, the factory originally used rivets, when they were installed the rivet was swelled in the hole taking out all the play.

I remember replacing a bunch of frame rivets with bolts, I seem to remember the size I used was a little loose in the hole. If that is the case with yours, you might want to take out one bolt at a time and up size it with a drill(exact size bit) and try to make the bolts tighter in the frame and the bracket.

was even louder after tightening the radius rod bracket bolts they where slightly loose(and could see rust around one on the pass side where it has been working), but it did feel tighter going down the road. my pop is for sure drivers side... gonna have to get someone to back the truck up while i watch whats going on.... being a manual my wife cant help lol... and shes kind of short to try. oddly its mostly only backing up and once in a while it does it sharp turns... and that has became resent..

nothing feels loose im starting to wonder if its the caliper shifting when i go to back up.. but it does have new caliper wedges, rotors, calipers, hoses, and Wagner pads about 6months ago..

this is the truck in my sig

i also use a long pipe about 4 foot long to check ball joints i set the i beam on a stand about a foot from the wheel and then take another stand about a foot from the front of the i beam and use that as my pivot point and rest my pipe on the bottom of the bottom ball joint and try to push it up.. then i take a long pry bar about 3foot long and try to pry the ball joints down from between the i beam and the spindle.

I bet you cannot squeeze the brackets tight enough against the frame to stop them from moving if the bolts have play in the holes.

I chased a clunk for several months in my font end, turned out that the last time I had the front end aligned they placed the clamps on the toe adjusting collar facing straight up. When I would turn and enter/exit a driveway they would hit the anti-sway bar. I also tightened the bolts on the drag link brackets to make sure.

These are the clamps I had problems with, in this picture they were placed in their proper position facing forward.
