overdrive adapters question???

Im building overdrives similar to Gear vendor.But i need to pick a popular
adpater to cast out of aluminum.So witch transmition would most benifite from an overdrive..C6 or T-19 or another type. so please post a few reply`s.

You are building overdrives as in lot of them or just one for You? bc I can take one and test it for You for quality purposes , just make sure it bolts to a zf-5.

If you are building them and you want to include our trucks, the best thing would be to make the unit with an optional adapter for any Ford Diesel trans. If you must pick just one, your best option is the C6, because they are a good trans, but without the O/D you'll really suffer on fuel mileage. The T19 is a little better but still revs very high, especially with 4.10s, and could use an overdrive. If you adapt it to an E40D or ZF5, you will cover more than just the IDI which is good for you...should go all the way up to 97 at least./ Let us know more about your units. OD kits are always nice on these trucks.

Yes im making alot of them.And i have one on my 86 f350.Im using a GEAR VENDOR adapter.The adapters are the tricky part of the assy.So many different types.To answer the question on the ZF5,this a small adapter and im going to make it,but im overloaded with designing and enginering this stuff.
The overdrive im using looks identical to a Gear vendor,but i build them!!.Keep the replys coming,so far it looks like a C6 is the one i need to focus on.

How about making a divorced unit? Wouldn't that give you more applications right off the bat?

Make one out of a 205 or a divorced unit like mel said, itd make the most sense.

Ive been working on the standalone adapter and its allmost done, just a small amount of work left on it.I just preffer the look of a nice custom adapter.

i would definately like a stand alone one for the F450, its aleady got a E4OD, and my 727 dodge, but a OD unit would definately help with the 4.10 gears in the 450.

I have a US Gear model and they have an adapter for each trans. Are you building something that has a double OD ?
