Original OE Starter Woes... getting tired

I have found the my most common cause has been the cables. My 83 when it was about 11 years old it started slowing down. I pulled one of the cables out and cut back the insulation about a foot and the copper was all green and powdery. New cables and spun like a champ. Now I replace cables on both my diesels every 10 years or so and can't remember when I replaced the starter last. I used 2/0 this last time. It's a little stiff. 3/0 would have been better but couldn't locate any.

One last thing the ground cable has always been the worst for corrosion.
