If it's been rubbing, it needs new bearings. Not all that hard to replace
You can buy a kit on ebay fron Ron's turbo service and when you buy one of his kits, you can send the assembly in for balancing so your build will last.

You need to have that turbo rebuilt. Any rub is a bad thing and oil pressure wont fix it. Depending on how bad it rubbed will tell you what damage has been done to the fins and the housing. Both areas can be expensive to repair.. Typ4 will chime in on whats happening...

Cant tell what the exhaust side looks like and they are very prone to failure after lots of miles, that is why I get a whole new center if its melted. Cheaper in labor in the long run and it new garrett parts.

I cant quote an accurate price till I see it apart.
And keep in mind I have had several customers disassemble them and it costs more if the wheels and shaft get messed up.

I feel bad that you are seeing this issue.

I will refund 100% of your money. There was no signs I could see of the hot side being damaged at all. I am not an expert, but I did have mine rebuilt a few months ago and posted the melted hot side wheel pics on this board.

Please let me know how you want to go. :dunno

The cold side was full of oil. I am assuming this means a seal is out? I just wnt it right before all the work of putting it on!

Well it looks like there might be some chips on the hotside wheel. Its hard to tell for sure.
I am guessing your backplate is worn.

Also I feel that turbo kits should be sold and a rebuild figured in. I would try to get the seller to maybe split the cost. Still 800 ish isnt to bad for the whole thing.
Just my opinion
Let me know what you want to do.
