On second thought, maybe the IP isn't bad yet...

The past two mornings have been in the upper 40's to lower 50's and the 93 has failed to start both mornings. I even went so far, as to put my batteries on charge all night long, last night. I decided a trip to the battery shop was in order and I'm glad I did.

The tech tested both batteries and found one dead cell, as well as a weak battery on the other side (Failed the load test)

I had them install two 900 CCA batteries in the thing and WHAT a difference! For no longer than I was there, I figured I would have to let the truck cool down enough to start. I've been having hot-start problems since I got the truck and figured the IP was going out on me. This time, the truck started within one second! I thought it was too good to be true, but tested it out at several more stops along my to-do list. The longest it too to start, was 2 seconds!

Granted, the batteries cost me $170, but that's a whole lot better than $300-$500 for an IP!

One other thing.. As fast as the starter turns now, I would swear that it was a gear-reduction, if I didn't know better.

Sounds just like mine. One wouldn't hold a charge and the other, while it had good volts, would only crank out 200 amps. They were in the truck when I bought it 6 yrs ago and they looked good and could spin the 454 over with no problem (8.5-1 compression) but not so with the IH. Good to hear you're getting things sorted out.
