The gm 6.2 diesel had it for the 1/2 ton and 3/4. 1 ton was egr free.

...You are right. I would never have expected that, what with the Fords not getting EGR until '03 with the 6.0, and even the lb7 Duramax not having it...
I'm totally amazed.

Throw some more money at that oil and don't forget the 3 times price filter too

todays synthetic doesn't get dirty like the regular oil does
and todays dirt isn't so dirty either right?

I've always wondered how this would go. What is better, 3000 miles dino oil regular 1995 filter or what I just tried- 6500 miles+ with synthetic 15w40, LF3974 Fleetguard stratapore filter [25$] and a Baldwin B164 Bypass filter [13$] just sent my oil sample to Blackstone today so we shall find out soon enough. Worst case I keep the way better filtration system and cut back on my drain intervals- I went closer to 7000 miles. Engine ran great. Oil looked awful coming out, but it looks awful brand new coming threw a bypass filter- welcome to soot filled idi's. 128k miles and new rings @ 91k. Is What it is.
