I recently sold my 94.5 F350 crew cab drw. It had the zf-5 and had about 170k on it when I sold it. The body and interior was pretty worn out and I had severely dented the oil pan and didn't feel like dumping money into a older truck. I felt like it was going to be a never ending battle.
I'm in the market for a late 99-2003 7.3/zf6 truck.
I bought the dually because I got a really good deal on it, didn't really need it at the time but the security of knowing I could tow just about anything I would come a cross was a nice feeling.
Now I'm trying to decide between a srw or a drw. As well as 2 or 4 wheel drive.
It will most likely become a daily driver(rural area). I have a 2000 p71 crown Vic Right now that I purchased as a hold me over kinda thing until I found a new truck($380) so i might keep it to drive to and from work.
What kinda mpg differences am I going to see between a 2wd f250 and a 4x4 dually? My OBS got around 17-18 if I kept it under 65mph. But the 4.10 rear end on the highway wasn't fun.
My normal trailers I tow average between 5000-8000, although during last year I towed a 24ft gooseneck with about 13,000 pounds of hay on it a few times. Although this was all local with in 35 miles. And I've seen heavier loads moved with a srw.
