new truck is throwing some curves

My 88 diesel seams to be a good one so far.
Transfer case shifter loose- found loose bolts and fixed it
Breaks were hard but worked-replaced the thing on the side of the ip


Now i need to know how to set the "thing" on the ip that controls the trans. Its a C-6.

Also the fuel gauges stay at empty till its empty then it shows 1/4 tank.

Finally what else should I look over? I Already ditched the soup bowl and the cdr valve

The C6 thingy on the IP is a VRV. let me track down a part number...

Loosen the two screws, tilting it towards the front of the truck makes it shift harder, pulling it back makes it shift soft. Both of my C6's are about 8 millimeters forward of being all the way back. It's easy to get to, and easy to fine tune what you prefer for shifting characteristics. More towing = further forward. To start, I'd pull it as far back as possible, then tip it forward a touch and take it for a drive.

Thats where i set it. I don't like it because it really jerks into gear. I'll set it back a little more. Thank you very much for your help

Yep. If it's all the way back and still shift like a mule, it may be bad or you're low on vacuum. But we'll worry about that later
