Sorry to here of your bad luck, how many miles are on the engine? I just gave my grandson my 88 f250 7.3, 11400 miles on it.I bought this truck new, it was my go to the lake truck, duck hunting, fishing, I did pull one of my heaver boats a few times but not far, it is a 5 speed. it has never seen the yellow line on the tach. it just started up, after sitting for 5 years, had treatment in the fuel, replaced 3 glow plugs, put in the manual GP button. this cavitation issue is something I didn't know about until I started to read the diesel forums. I just changed the antifreeze every 4-5 yrs. used either green prestone on zerex, now I am concerned that it may be a problem. what is the advice from you guys? is there a way to check to see if there is a problem? he has not changed or added an to it. it does not run hot, it never did, the gauge is running at the same place it always had,no leaks in any lines, the are all original, the fuel gauge is stuck at above full, i filled it up before parking it. the back tank and gauge is working fine, the tach is jumping around he says, he has been running diesel kleen it the tanks, he is going to change the fuel filter next week he says. its got a little rust over the rear fenders, bottom of the tail gate, inside is almost new, some wear on the drives seat, not bad I kept the covered with a furniture pad most of the time. he want to sink some money into it, he is 21 and back from the 82nd airborne,he was in Iraq for a yr. now he is home, going to collage.
