tryin to cross all the T's and dot all the lower case j's in this rebuild, and that includes new o-rings for my oil cooler. managed to score those at international for $35.

i have adequate documentation on taking the cooler apart and putting it back together, but i seem to remember there being some knowledge here that says NOT to do it "by the book".

it related to installing both o-rings on the cooler and then pressing the header down onto the body.

is this process correct:

1. clean mating surfaces
2. install BOTH o-rings
3. use plenty of vaseline or oil when pressing the header onto the body
4. enjoy?

The short answer is yes... You have it correct... Don't place the o-rings on the headers like the book tells you to... Thats wrong and it will cut the o-rings when you press it together... always place the o-rings on the ends of the bundle. Then press one header on at a time. The header to bundle alingment is very close so make sure things are not crooked.
