IIRC, one of the plugs behind the cam had come out. These are pressed in from the factory and then held in by making small indentions across the front of them on the block so that some of the block material is deformed and and holds the plug in place. If these are removed, a similar process needs to be used to insure that they stay in place or you can tap them out carefully to 1/4" NPT and have pipe plugs installed. This may not be widely know by rebuilders who don't specialize in IDIs and is another concern for those who have their engine done by them. No. They're behind the cam gear (which I didn't mention before). They are behind the front engine cover so no oil would leak externally if one of these came loose or completely out.Thanks, the description given seemed like they would leak externally.
