NEW Addition To My Family

Hey guys... I know that I haven't been on in awhile, but I just wanted to tell everyone that I still have my '86 F250, and I just bought a '85 F350 Crew Cab 4x4 with a 6.9 in it. It needs some work, but I only paid $600 for it! I'll have it here tomorrow and start fixing it up. I'm putting the ATS turbo and a few other parts from my '86 standard cab on it until I get the engine in the '86 rebuilt. I don't have any pictures of it yet, but if you go to this link, http://eastoregon.craigslist.org/cto/795969352.html , you can see the pics that was posted with the ad. I'd really like to thank Justin for driving over here to look at it with me and help me determine what was wrong with it. It seems that some idiot put gasoline in it and fouled up the pump and possibly the injectors. The motor turns over and has good compression, so I'm going to replace the IP, lift pump, fuel filter, and injectors tomorrow. I've got to disconnect and clear all the fuel lines and drain the tanks too. I'll keep everyone posted on how things go with it and get some better pics on here soon.

P.S. You've got a nice truck and I'll remember that about the center console before I change out the seats to the '96 style... lol.

it has everything to do with the construction industry going into the tank on the west coast. It's been flat for close to a year now. most guys with the older trucks can sell them versus the guys with the new trucks have been getting them repo'd.

I'm heading up to Redmond to go bring it home now. I'll talk with everyone later. I've been looking for this body style of truck in a crew cab for about 5 years now and I'm still in shock that I accually own it!

shoulda just brought a bunch of wmo and call it good unless the tank is FULL of gas then dump out and run in something to clean out the combustion chambers, a little diesel in a gasser works wonders!

I got it home tonight and I'm going to start checking it more tomorrow. Does anybody have any ideas on what's the easiest way to make sure that the IP is in time? I guess the guy I bought it from replaced the IP and thinks he may have gotten it out of time in the process. The rear tank is empty, but the front is FULL of what smells like gas and diesel mixed (mostly gas smelling). I'm going to drop the tank and replace it with the tank off my '86 (it has 3/4 of a tank of diesel in it still) and see what happens, but I want to make sure that the IP is in the correct postion. Any help and ideas are much appreciated. I've spent some time on the phone with Punkmechanic and have a pretty good idea where to start, but just wondering what input the rest of you have. Thanks for all your help and advice.

Oregon and Washington have always had a glut of used pickups and the prices have always been silly cheap compared to the rest of the country. It was that way 20 years ago when I left there. I bought a used logging company jeep pickup for half of nothing up there and there wasn't a thing wrong with it, and I had my pick from a number of nice trucks cheap.

I wish it was that way here, because around here everyone thinks their worn out junk is total gold

dropping a 19gal tank that is full of fuel is a really bad idea. you're either going to get hurt doing it or you're going to make a mess.
time to do a cocktail of WMO diesel and gas If nothing else, hit up Punkmech for some of his bunker oil. pump out 7gal of your gas mix and throw in the oil. you'll be fine.

Punkmechanic was saying that and that's what I was considering to see what it'll do. Should I change out the IP before I try it or see if I can get it to run with the current IP so that my good IP doesn't get damaged in anyway from the gas? I have some WMO here from the oil change in my Exploder and I'm changing the oil in my fiancee's car tomorrow. I know that it's not 7 gallons worth, but I'll contact Ford to see if I can start picking up some of their WMO. What all do I need to filter it? Punkmechanic was explaining it to me, but I don't remember exactly how he said he was doing it.
