Need to own IDI tools

Since there are some speciality tools for these engines, lets make a list and possible sourse/price. Everything from timing meters (i know, not available new) to those fancy wrenches freebird makes. i seen a few good suggestions in the recent waterpump thread. These can either be home made (examples or how-tos) or store bought.

Lets not forget general speciality tools like hub sockets as well. I cant locate my pics of the hub sockets or id post em. If i find em i will.

But, seriously; this sound like a good idea to have a centralized list of specialty tools. I'd really like to know the info on the freeze plug installation tool. I AM going to get one of Jason's wrenches as soon as I have some extra $$$.

Injector seat reamer, I found one on ebay for $60.00, never used it yet but if I ever need it, it will be nice to have at hand.

If your serious about putting together a list of tools, I'm all for it, and will move it to the tech articles, for posterity, but let's be complete! Provide a source, part number, and cost with each specialty tool posted. If it isn't available, then reference the best way to get it, or someone who has it who will lend it. (IcanFixAll's timing meter rental for example).

I would love to see if Jason can make a better version of the fan clutch tool for us as well. That'd be very handy!

Actually that's a very good good idea for another product Jason could make. It's simple and easy for a guy like him with the tooling he has. He could borrow mine if he wants to make copies.

My marvelous idea for the pulley tool is to order some high head bolts for the pulley that actually will stick out far enough to grip the wrench.
The fan hub nut one needs to be 3/8 thick at least at the head.

Figure check and see how many would require a group buy for a 40% higher head. And I know washers would work but thats just tacky.

I talked to him about the fan tools. To make them like the factory ones it is hard to get the square for a ratchet to fit.

yep...and you can buy them pretty inexpensive on ebay.

ive made one or two wrenches for myself for this purpose.
