Need help with 1990 7.3 stalling

My sister's 1990 7.3 starts and idles, even revs up but once she puts the C-6 in drive or reverse the engine just dies.She had a dealer work on the steering column a while back.
Would anyone have an idea as to this,can it be wiring, as a loss of power to the injection pump so it just shuts off?

Try running a jumper wire from the battery to the shutoff solenoid on the injection pump. That way the power will be direct and it wont be going thru the steering cloum or other wireing. Remember if you use this you will have to remove the jumper wire to shut down the truck. Just turning off the key wont do it.

Just use a test light. If you put it in reverse and the light goes off, there in lies the problem. Hoever, this was a common on the gen 1 Power strokes with the E40Ds. Pump was bad killing the engine in reverse.
