Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
@jibronee I been running Deep Cycle Group 29 Marine, IIRC without going out & looking this cold morning. Been running them for bout 4+ yrs now. Probably gonna go bad soon
though. LOL

I was at WalMart few yr back, back in rear checkout/automotive section. I noticed they had some new looking batteries setting on counter. Got to looking & finally asked bout them.
I usually no shop for batteries at WalMart for last few yrs, they're no good anymore, like they used to be.

Anyway I thought they were some "No Good, Returns." Turned out there was some kind of mess-up.....mix-up on their Barcodes, #'s, Labels, or something, but they were new batteries gonna be shipped back. I asked "How much?"

Turned out I got 9 Deep Cycle Group 29 Marine Batteries for $19.00 to $30.00 each!!!!! I jumped & got them before they changed their mind!!!!!~ Several @ $19, 1-2 of them for $22, and one for $30............I didn't ask why prices on same kind of battery varied, I just jumped & grabbed!!!!

I run them on Bessie, on my other tractors, an anything I got......

BTW, couple days ago I was in our local Welding Supply & checked prices on 2/0 Welding Cable. My cost, with my Commercial Account, is little over $5.75/foot.

I been building my own battery cables for long time, doing it a variation, but nearly like @BeastMaster write-up of way to build & solder battery cables.
Few my cables I've just crimped instead.

Couple summers back, HF had another one of their constant Tool sales.
Had the HYD Crimper marked down, Well couple days ago finally used it.
Was installing the 12K HF Winch. Bought a Tractor Supply Trailer Tongue
box, and installing the Winch and Battery inside it. Cut the hole for the fair
Lead/Roller assy., this way it is away from prying eyes and weather.

Mounted the plastic Box with the electric connections to the box wall with
2 1/4" Bolts. The 4 Cables to the Motor were the correct length, but the 2
for the Battery were too long.
Cut them to length with my Cable cutter plyers. Stripped ends and crimped
on the 2 Copper ends. Cables are 2GA.
The HF HYD crimpers seemed to work ok. The come with a whole assortment
crimp Dies.

Battery seem to get neglected, checked the voltage and is 7.68 V. Bought it
back in 2017. Added some distilled water to the cells and put the charger on
it most of the day. I`ll check it this morning to see where it is now. But as old
and low of voltage, may not last as long if pulling up some old carcas onto the
trailer, IDK.

It's sad, but it wasn't but a few yrs ago that WallyWorld/Mart had batteries with 5 yr warrenties, as well as other batteries with less yrs warranties.
Now last time I looked they only had like 3yr, 2 yr, 1 yr warranties.....or at least that's what I remember.
Last couple batteries I bought I just got them at O'Reilly's, one for my JCB TLB & one for something else.

I know that it was a long time back, but it doesn't seem like all that long ago I could go into Wal-Mart and buy a complete tune up for my car including the points and condensor.

IDIBronco, how do you like the 2.47 gears in your f150? I installed a 2.47 rearend in my dad's 67 mustang years ago, but we still haven't tried them out yet.

They're fine for highway use. In town, they're pitiful. If I drive around much, I can almost watch the fuel gauge drop. Eventually, I'm going to rebuild a 351W to put in it. At that time, I'm considering swapping the 9" with 3.50 gears that's under my pickup box trailer and putting a AOD in place of the FMX. In theory, I should still get good mileage on the highway and do better in town that way. If your dad does mostly highway driving with the Mustang he'll be fine. By "mostly" I mean well over 90%. Almost every highway around where I live is speed limit 65 and several miles between towns. With 235/75R15 tires, I was turning around 2300 RPM at 70. 2400 uphill, 2200 downhill, and 2300 on fairly flat ground.

Cool. Yeah, I figured I'd turn 2400+rpm @ 70 with 235/60/15's, which is better than 3K with my 3.00's. My dad has passed, so I'm trying to finish mustang so my mom can drive it before she's not able to drive it anymore. It's just the stock 289/2bbl with C4. Just to putt around town and easy cruising on freeway.

About 25 years ago I replaced the entire 6cyl drivetrain in my 62' comet wagon. 8" rear with 3.40 gears, power disc brakes up front, 289/4bbl with an aod. That car was so darn fun to drive! Great having the aod to cruise freeway speed and faster! You'll be happy with the 351W/aod and 3.50 gears!

You remember those. In 1974 and earlier vehicles. I've owned two cars that had points and a third one that I put a points distributor in.
