Ok, I managed to get my $500 6.9 home today. Not totally sure of the year as it has no tag on the door frame as it was removed previously. My friend Jason and I previously ran up the engine and drove around a storage lot to verify it's running and a worthwhile investment.

All I had to do was pay $25 for the fuel for the ramp truck as it is owned by Jason's father in-law.

I even get a tidy tank and pump as well as a PU box full of garbage and WASPS:eek:

I took a few pics and here they are as you can see by the engine tag it's the 175 HP model 6.9 too.:D  Take a good look at the redneck/aboriginal canadian fuel line to #1 injector...:rotflmao

Jason knows I have the 7.3 turbo and may want to purchase this 6.9 from me. I mostly wanted the transmission and flywheel and a few other parts so I may sell him the motor if the 7.3 is ok. We will know more once I get the 7.3 home and on the engine stand to open the pan check bearings as well as do a leak down test too.

Anyone who wants the grille...it's a freebie pay shipping and it's yours.

:yell: And so the project takes another step forward. ;Sweet

Most of all Huge thanks to Jason for all his help with my project.:rotflmao

Good score for $500 eh.;Sweet

Well I guess.....LOL

I was rolling and checking under it and I noticed a large 70 cast on the top of the rear end housing.;Sweet I am not certain with all those wasps:backoff about because I cannot stay under long though I believe it to be a Dana 70 not 60 as I had first suspected.

Well I'll post more as I know more....Wasp bombs coming tomorrow.

Yeah it should be a D70 in the rear end, not a 60, the other choice was the D61, but sometime in 1985 they switched to the Ford Sterling 10.25" axle. I agree good score for $500.

Looks like the truck is an 84, from the march 84 build date on the engine tag. My engine is a march 84 build as well. Good deal on the truck!! My 84 that donated it's engine also had a Dana 70 rear.

And Phillips Head valve cover bolts?

Can't fault anybody for that. That's the way IH built them when they first came out. The Moose Truck had the philips, but they were quickly swapped out on the first head gasket job.

Good eye, I never noticed the build date as I was too interested in that HP rating.

As for the Dana 70, (cannot read the diff tag) if it is one I'll be moving that under the Bronco as well...Woot,:D with a rebuild and I surely hope a set of disc brakes.

When I ran the truck it pulled good. The rad is just completely shot to well I'll take pictures but its rotten and in much worse shape than when I put the fan into the rad in the Bronco a few weeks ago.

BTW....does anyone have a lead on inexpensive injector lines and return lines that I can use? I would prefer to switch this over to the 7.3 glow plugs as well...What brand do you all recommend?

You'll want to get the ones made by Beru. Stay way from Autolight and Champion, and most other brands.
