During installation of my Turbo I had to remove a large portion of the firewall insulation. Now I think I am hearing / imagining a quiet knock in my motor. It's running better than ever, no high egt readings, not burning any oil, no white smoke and it starts great. AM I NUTS or WHAT ???????

Check the throttle cable. Where it runs past the injector on the driver side rear there is/was a large block of insulation on it. If is not positioned correctly and the throttle cable contacts an injector line it will telegraph the pulse through the firewall via the throttle cable.

Did you read this thread? Seems to be going around lately, this knock, tick, tap. My engine did it also, thought it was in the valvetrain because one head was rebuilt, the other had 250k miles on it. I got bigger worries than a tap though. See:

The tough part here is I am in the middle of moving out of our house and will not have a shop to work in for a month or two, Just my luck.
