Mel has graciously agreed to do another "Timing Clinic" at the rally. We will be starting on Friday afternoon once folks get back from the cave tour and have had a bite to eat.

If you want your truck timed..........please do the following:
-Open your hood as soon as you get back to the campsite to let the engine heat out.........it will be too hot for Mel to work on otherwise.
-Make sure you can insert the chuck end of a 5/16" drill bit fully into the upper crankshaft timing port a full 1" (until it touches the crankshaft damper). I'm afraid he may have to turn away any truck that hasn't had this proceedure done.

Ron and/or Gary are planning on bringing injector testers.........and will be poping some (hopefully Moose vs. DPS) for us. I'll let them chime in if they want to pop test for guys or just demonstrate.

I'm planning on rebuilding an injured 1345 T-case as well (once I get parts from Russ;Sweet).

Any intrest.....speak now or forever hold your timing questions.

When I took it down for "pre-rally inspection"..... I noticed that like piece of heaven at the very bottom of the most narrow portion of the housing. Yippy.:puke::rolleyes:

Yea, no kidding! Everytime I need to do something to my truck, I have to remove 14 bolts and 4 hose clamps!

What work are you doing to the T-case? I have a little experience with mine...

Have a spare chain ready because they can get stretched if used and/or abused.

Also the oil pump on these has a tendency to wear through the case. Have a new one ready but also be aware that there is a chance that if it is worn through, you need a new case unless you can place a bead of aluminum to replace a worn down rib.

I'm curious as to the location of the wear induced by the pump????

The pump has not worn the case really at all and the chain seems to be in spec. It was rebuilt and it looks like the shift arm was installed incorrectly making the proper gear selection ...........well........."less than optimal".:D

ah... so it will be more of a "look and see what it looks like inside" thing I guess...

A good thing to do because a T-case is not really maintained all too often.

Do you have the actual spec for the chain? I just got a spare and compared it to that... it was not stretched longer so now I keep the new one as a backup.
