Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor = MAP (seen in Ford Service Manual)
is same as
Barometric Absolute Pressure Sensor = BAP (seen online)

e7ef-12a644-a2a
or
DY-530

What does this device do?
What is it good for?
How can I check / How do I know if it is defect?

I removed the A/C Evaporator Core from my E350 non turbo 1994 (to make space for some future modification) - and I didn't return this sensor when reassembling the case.
And now I am wondering if the sensor is broken because I can not see any difference in the driving experience.

Thanks!

It's used for the E4OD to adjust shift patterns at higher elevations, that's all I believe.

Thanks Nero for your clarification!
The device is now back in the vehicle.
