The video on the wheel-check site explains it, the fine for a lost wheel in the USA is like $150 and it is $50,000 in Canada. I think anyway, I tried to watch it again and it isn't working at the moment.
just watching the vid. You're correct; up to $50,000 in Canada That DOES explain it pretty well... I figured it probably had to do with the Ministry of Transportation. To me, they make complete sense and are a hang of a lot easier to check loose nuts by than going around with a wrench to check every single one.
They said $117 to fully equip an 18-wheeler... I'd drop the money on it if it meant easier walk-around safety checks and lower risk of killing someone on the road!

. Now, the scales have guard rails surrounding it on all sides exposed to the highway.
